Movie Review: Sissy (2022)
This thriller with a jaw dropping moment is available free on Tubi. (No Spoilers)
This is another perimenopausal, middle-of-the-night watch when I couldn’t sleep. I found it on Tubi by chance, but I think it’s a Shudder movie.
It’s a female-led Australian horror that starts as a mystery when two old friends reunite.
I was immediately intrigued. The main character is mesmerizing. She’s beautiful, but you can tell she’s broken, and you just want to find out why her friend group fell apart. Then you do, and insanity ensues.
It’s a little bloody, so be warned if you aren’t into that stuff. I will say, however, that it’s a little over the top—like 80s-style gore, which isn’t realistic. It’s just in there for shock value.
Regardless, Sissy is a fun watch if you like psychological horror, especially ones that use modern issues like social media and influencer culture.
I enjoyed it and gave it four stars on Letterboxd.
